Officer Rivera (above) is the coordinator of the SFPD Wilderness Program. In partnership with schools and other youth organizations, the SFPD Wilderness Program takes kids on hikes and camping trips so that they can enjoy the outdoors while under the safe supervision of San Francisco police officers. The purpose of the Program is to bring youths and police officers together and build a positive relationship.
On December 5, 2013, Officer Rivera joined 32 students from our very own West Portal Elementary School to a hike on Angel Island. The students were also escorted by 3 teachers and 8 parent volunteers. Everyone successfully hiked the trails and enjoyed the view from the Island!
