Shoplifting – Violation of Stay Away – Warrant Arrest – Arrested

700 Irving St
Officers responded to a report of a shoplifting incident and possible restraining order at a Starbucks. The witness stated that the suspect, who was seated in a wheelchair, was observed stealing two bags of coffee and concealing them under a pile of clothing in his lap. The suspect then stood up and pushed his wheelchair out of the store. The witness unsuccessfully attempted to detain the suspect but was injured multiple times when the suspect shoved the wheelchair at her. Responding officers made located and made contact with the suspect, despite the suspect jogging away immediately after the officers approached him. The suspect was detained without further incident. Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the coffee because he needed money. A computer check confirmed that the suspect had a stay away order from the location and a warrant for his arrest. The suspect was arrested.
Vehicle Violation – No Driver’s License issued – Cited

Sunset Blvd & Vicente St
Officers were on patrol and observed a vehicle with an expired registration. The officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver volunteered that his driver’s license had just expired, which was confirmed by a computer check. The driver was cited.
Trespassing

700 Taraval St
Officers responded to a trespassing incident. The victim reported that the suspect was observed, via security footage, entering the laundromat. Responding officers arrived and located the suspect, who had a known history of frequenting the area. The victim declined to press charges; the suspect was advised not to return.
Battery – Arrested

300 Sargent St
Officers responded to a report of a couple in a fight. The witness stated that the suspect, his brother, was in an argument with the victim concerning missing money and that the suspect was observed striking the victim in the face. The witness attempted to intervene but was also struck in the face and chest by the suspect. The victim admitted to being in a verbal argument with the suspect, who was intoxicated, but denied being struck by the suspect. The suspect responded that while he had been drinking and that an argument over family matters had occurred, the witness suddenly came in and started a fight with him. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.
