Dear Taraval Education Community,
Officer Austria and I want to thank you for another successful Fall Semester. As this academic semester comes to an end, we are grateful that our Education Community fulfilled the needs of our youths without any notable incident.
Although we and other members of the Education Community were able to provide and support a safe environment on our school grounds, my fellow officers and I were disheartened to hear about yet another high profile school shooting in Colorado on December 13, 2013.
We want you to know on that day of the Colorado shooting, Taraval officers were reminded to pass by all schools in the District to ensure we are visible and ready to protect our children, parents, and school staff.
Officer Austria and I share a deep concern for the safety of our schools in the Taraval Police District. We have discussed in length about our roles and our impact on school safety.
We wish you a safe Winter Break and a Happy Holidays. We look forward to seeing you again when school resumes on Monday, January 6, 2014.
