Assault

Capitol Ave & Minerva St
Officers responded to a report of an assault. The victim reported that he was drinking in the park with a group of his friends, which included the suspect. While the suspect was walking, with the assistance of crutches, the suspect suddenly swung the crutches and hit the victim with them. The victim fell on to the ground and the suspect punched the victim before leaving the location. The victim stated that the suspect had a history of becoming aggressive when he drinks and does drugs.

Battery – Vandalism

Officers responded to a report of a suspect swinging a metal pipe in the air. Arriving at the location, the officers observed a shattered window and made contact with the victim. The victim, who had an hand against her right eye due to the bleeding, stated that she was walking through the lobby of the building when she heard people arguing outside. The victim then saw a group of people run into the building, heard glass shatter and discovered that she was bleeding. A witness reported that a group of people were arguing and antagonizing the suspect and the suspect responded by chasing the people with a golf cub. The group of people ran into the building and closed the door causing the suspect to angrily strike at the window with the golf club before walking away.

Officers responded to a report of a possible battery. The victim, an employee at the store, reported that he was scared when the suspect entered the store and threatened him with a pocket knife. The officers recognized the suspect, due to suspect having had a known history for harassment and threats to the neighborhood’s shop owners, and placed the suspect under arrest.  

Bank Robbery with a Gun

2600 Ocean Ave
Officers responded to a report of a bank robbery. The victim reported that the suspect had asked about opening a bank account and was given paperwork to complete. Shortly afterwards, the victim noticed that the suspect was nervous and sweaty and approached the suspect to see if he needed assistance. The suspect gave the victim a note stating that he had a gun and was going to rob them. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands and the suspect immediately fled the bank.

Traffic Violation – Suspended Driver’s License – Cited

Junipero Serra Blvd & 19th Ave
Officers were on patrol and observed a vehicle without a front license plate. The officers conducted a traffic stop and a computer check on the driver revealed that his license had been suspended. The driver was cited.

Assault – Threats – False Imprisonment – Arrested

1100 Ocean Ave
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing. Dispatch advised the officers that the suspect was in possession of a knife and was engaged in a fight with staff members. Responding officers arrived at the location and located the suspect and victim. The officers separated victim and witnesses into a separate room without incident but the suspect was non-compliant. The officers were eventually successful in talking the suspect into releasing his weapon, which was later identified as a screwdriver. The victim reported that she was accompanying the suspect into the exercise room when the suspect attempted to steal the screwdriver. The victim tried to take back the screwdriver but the suspect struggled to retain possession of it and cut the victim’s face with it. The suspect then prevented the victim from leaving. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.
