Burglary of a Store – Possession of Burglary Tools – Arrested

Officers responded to Macy’s regarding a shoplifting incident. The witness, a Loss Prevention agent, reported that the suspect had walked directly into the clothing department and selected multiple items of clothing from the racks. The suspect then walked into the fitting room before immediately exiting the store. Store employees investigated the fitting room but did not locate any item of clothing that the suspect had previously brought in. The witness attempted to detain the suspect but the suspect immediately fled. The witness grabbed on to the suspect, causing both of them to fall on to the ground. After the fall, the suspect did not attempt to strike the witness or to resist. A search of the suspect located a tool that is commonly used to remove security tags.   The suspect was arrested.

Traffic Violation – Suspended Driver’s License – Cited

Officers were on patrol and observed a driver that had stopped next to a curb and was throwing garbage directly out of his window. The vehicle then entered back into the flow of traffic. The officers conducted a traffic stop and a computer check on the driver revealed that his license had been suspended. The driver had also been cited previously for driving on a suspended driver’s license. The driver was cited and his vehicle towed.

1100 Ocean Ave
An Ocean Ave foot beat officer was on patrol and observed a homeless person, the suspect, sleeping on the sidewalk and blocking a driveway. The officer attempted to make contact but the suspect was difficult to wake up and when awoken, the suspect did not acknowledge the officer’s presence or orders. The suspect then lowered her pants and urinated on the street. The subject was cited.

Robbery – Brandishing a Firearm

Officers responded to Macy’s regarding a person with a gun. The witness, a Loss Prevention agent, reported that three juvenile suspects had entered the store and took multiple jackets while looking suspiciously around the store. All three suspects then exited the store without paying for the merchandise. Store employees approached the suspects on the sidewalk just outside of Macy’s at the 20th Avenue store exit and identified themselves as Loss Prevention agents. The suspects dropped the merchandise on to the sidewalk and two of the suspects fled the area immediately. The third suspect was detained and placed into handcuffs. However, the suspect began screaming for help and another suspect pulled up in a vehicle and brandished a gun at the Loss Prevention agents. The agents released the suspect, who fled while still handcuffed.
