Burglary Residential – Forced Entry

100 Dorantes Avenue

Officers in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle were dispatched to the scene regarding a burglary. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a contractor working on the home. He stated that he left the home locked and secured and upon returning the following morning he discovered damage to the side door and door frame of the residence. Several items were missing from the home, the contractor did not give anyone permission to take the items from the home.

Malicious Mischief – Vandalism to Vehicle

A man came to Taraval Station to report vandalism to his vehicle. The man stated that he locked and secured his vehicle in good condition and upon returning to his vehicle he discovered damage had been done to his vehicle. An unknown suspect used a sharp object to make scratches on the passenger side front fender, door and sliding door.

Driving With A Suspended License – Non-Functioning Brake – Cited

Sunset Boulevard & Judah Street

Officers in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle observed a vehicle with a non-functioning brake light. The officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver. A computer query of the driver’s license revealed that the driver had a suspended license. The driver was cited for having a non-functioning brake light and driving with a suspended license.

Theft of Cell Phone

600 Taraval Street

Officers responded to a call regarding a theft. Upon their arrival the officers were met by a woman who stated that while she was in the back room of the store she heard a voice coming from the unattended front desk. The woman went to the front of the store and did not notice anyone waiting there and discovered that her office door was open. The woman went into the office and discovered an unknown male suspect standing next to her desk. The woman asked the man what he was doing there and she noticed her cell phone missing. The woman asked the unknown male back for her phone and the unknown male exited the store.

A woman came to Taraval Station to report a theft. The woman stated that she parked and locked her vehicle and went for a walk. As she was walking she got a phone call from her bank advising her of suspicious activity on her credit/debit cards. Upon returning to her vehicle she discovered that an unknown suspect had broken into her vehicle and stole her purse and all its contents. The woman did not give permission to and did not authorize anyone to use her cards to make purchases.

Officers in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle when they stopped and observed an unknown male dressed in dark clothing spray painting graffiti on the side of a wall. The unknown male saw the officers and fled southbound. The officers followed the unknown male and stopped him. The unknown male threw two items behind him. The officer detained the man pending further investigation. The officer discovered the items to be gloves and a can of spray paint. The color paint on the can matched the paint color that was on the wall. The man was arrest and booked at Taraval Station.

Battery of a Police Officer – Resisting, Delaying, Obstructing Peace Officer Duties

An officer was in full uniform and in a marked police car regarding a man sleeping on a sidewalk. Upon the officer’s arrival, the man refused to give the officer his identification and began to walk away. The officer attempted to stop the man from escaping and advised him that he was not free to leave. The man continued to run away and began to walk due to being tired. Officer then placed the man under arrest. The man was booked at Taraval station.

Residential Burglary – Forcible Entry

2000 Santiago Street

Officers in full police uniform responded to a call regarding a burglary. Upon the officers’ arrival, a man stated that the residences had left the home locked and secured in the morning. During the afternoon when the residences came back, the man discovered the garage door was broken into and certain items were missing from his home. The residences of the home did not give anyone permission to go into the home. The point of entry was the exterior garage access door and the point of exit was the rear door. The suspect is unknown.

Residential Burglary – Forcible Entry

Officer responded to a call regarding a residential burglary. Upon the officer’s arrival at the scene, a woman stated that she left her home locked and secured in the morning. When she came back later the day, she discovered damages on the garage access door and the back door unlocked. Certain items were missing from her home and she did not give anyone permission to enter her home and take her property. The preliminary investigation indicated that the point of entry was the garage door and the point of exit was the back door.

Officers responded to a store regarding a shoplifting incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the store worker stated that an unknown suspect was walking around the store with stolen items in his possession. The suspect had walked past all available checkout clerks and checkout counters and the store worker followed him outside the store when he entered into another store. The store worker then saw the suspect waiting at a nearby bus stop. The officer approached to the bus stop and stopped the suspect and recovered the stolen items.The man was arrested and booked at Taraval Station.

An officer was dispatched to a store regarding a shoplifter. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer met with a loss prevention agent who stated that he saw a suspect left the women’s restroom carrying a shopping bag. He observed that the suspect path down several items from the store and exited the store passing through the cash registers with a stolen item in possession. The loss prevention agents stopped the suspect and escorted the suspect to the loss prevention office. The stolen item was recovered from the suspect’s bag. The woman was arrest and booked at Taraval Station.

Officers in full uniform and driving a marked police vehicle were assigned to a traffic operation. The officers observed a vehicle with no license plates speeding. The officers followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. Upon contact, the officers discovered that the man’s license was expired. The driver was cited for driving with an expired driver’s license and not displaying license plates on the vehicle.

Burglary – Forced Entry

Officers responded to the scene regarding a burglary incident. Upon arriving to the scene the officers observed the front window of the restaurant was shattered. While waiting for other units to arrive on scene the store manager arrived on scene. The store manager stated that his father left the store locked and secured and was alerted by the security company because the alarm activated. The store was opened with the manager’s key and a walkthrough was conducted without incident.

An officer working in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle observed a vehicle traveling northbound and enter and pass through the outside of the pedestrian limit line which had a clearly posted stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. The driver stated that she did not have a driver’s license and a computer check revealed that the driver did not have a driver’s license. The driver was cited for driving with no driver’s license and for not stopping at a stop sign.

An officer observed a vehicle heading northbound on Sunset Boulevard that failed to come to a complete stop for a posted stop sign. The officer effected a traffic stop and the officer made contact with the driver. The driver stated that he did not have a driver’s license. The driver was cited for driving without a license and for not making a complete stop at a stop sign.

A man came to Taraval Station to report that his bicycle was stolen from his garage. The man stated that last time he saw his bicycle was in the evening the night before. When he went to his garage in the morning he noticed his bicycle was missing. He believes that his son left the door open by accident when he left the home.

Officers responded to the scene regarding a burglary. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a man who stated that he left his bicycle in his shared garage unsecured with the garage door closed. Upon returning to the garage he discovered that his bicycle was missing.

Officers responded to the scene regarding a shoplifting incident. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a loss prevention agent. The loss prevention agent stated that as he was conducting floor surveillance he observed a woman select merchandise off the shelves and place them in her shopping cart. The woman then placed the items into a brown shopping bag and pushed the shopping cart past all opened and attended cash registers and exited the store without making an attempt to pay for the items. The loss prevention agent identified himself as loss prevention and detained the woman outside the store. The loss prevention agent contacted the police and the loss prevention agent signed a citizen’s arrest form. The woman was cited and released at the scene.

Officers in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle responded to the scene regarding a possible burglary. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a man who stated that he left his home in the afternoon. Upon returning to his home he found that his front door frame was cracked down the side as if someone had attempted to force the door open.

Burglary – Hot Prowl – Unlawful Entry

Officers responded to the scene of a hot prowl/burglary. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a woman who stated that she locked and secured her house and garage before going to sleep. Her husband left for work and stated that the garage door was open but he closed it as he was leaving the home. The woman went into the garage and noticed items missing from the garage. The glove compartments of the vehicles were opened and papers were scattered all over the floors of the vehicle. The woman also stated that she did not hear anything unusual during the night.

Officers were dispatched to the scene regarding a shoplifting report. Upon the officers arrival they were met by a loss prevention agent who stated that he saw a man enter the store and select groceries off the shelf. The man then placed them into the shopping cart and walked past a few opened cash registers without making any attempt to pay for the items and exited the store. The loss prevention agent approached the man and identified himself as a loss prevention agent outside of the store. The loss prevention agent contacted the police and the loss prevention signed a citizen’s arrest form when the officers arrived on scene. The man was cited for shoplifting and released at the scene.

A woman came to Taraval Station to report that her purse had been stolen from her daughters vehicle. The woman stated that she and her daughter had parked and secured their vehicle in the parking lot and upon returning to the vehicle the noticed the driver side rear window was shattered. The woman’s purse and all its belongings were stolen. When the woman went to cancel her credit cards she noticed that someone already fraudulently made charges on her credit card.

Officers responded to the scene regarding a vandalism call. Upon the officers arrival they observed a vehicle with a damaged windshield. The owner of the vehicle stated that she heard a noise outside and saw 1-2 unknown subjects across the street from her home. The unknown subjects lit a fire and ran southbound. A man put out the fire but stated that he was told by an unknown witness that the unknown witness saw the unknown subjects light paper on fire and threw the paper at the vehicle.

Residential Burglary – Under Construction – Unlawful Entry

Officers were dispatched to the scene regarding a burglary of a home that was under construction. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a man who stated that he left the home secured and upon returning to the home he discovered that some of his tools were missing. The man suspects that the unknown suspect must have stuck their hand through the missing wall boards and unlocked the back door because it was unlocked in the morning.

Officers in full uniform and driving a marked patrol vehicle were dispatched to the scene regarding a burglary. Upon arriving to the scene the officers were met by a general contractor hired to remodel the residence. The contractor stated that his workers locked and secured the residence and upon returning in the morning the contractor noticed damage done to the front gate lock and the gate was open. Several items were missing from the home.

Officers responded to the scene regarding a burglary report. Upon their arrival they were met by a man and a woman who stated they left their home in the morning to go to work. Upon returning home they noticed the front gate lock area was damaged and the gate was wide open as if someone kicked it open. The man and woman then walked up the stairs and noticed that the living room, kitchen, and both bedrooms had been ransacked. Several items were missing from the home.

The driver was cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license and for having a headlight out on his vehicle.
