Stolen Vehicle

Officers responded to a report of an argument between a tow truck driver and the driver of a vehicle. Responding officers arrived at the location and made contact with both parties. The witness, the tow truck driver, stated that he had been called out because the suspect’s vehicle had been parked illegally. While the witness was in the process of attaching the vehicle to the tow truck, the suspect approached him. The witness agreed to not tow the suspect’s vehicle but stated that the suspect needed to pay the fee for the tow truck’s arrival. The suspect responded angrily and a call was made to the police. A computer search of the vehicle revealed that the vehicle was a rental and that it had been stolen from San Mateo County. The suspect stated that the vehicle was not stolen and that it was a probably a billing error. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.
