Walk to Work Day – Friday, April 11, 2014

walk_sfCelebrate Walk to Work Day!

Be a part of San Francisco’s annual, fun and festive day of encouragement celebrating the most healthy, sustainable form of transportation you can choose: walking. Join the movement on Friday, April 11 — anyone can participate, just 15 minutes of your commute counts (whether you walk to work, class, or shop)!

1). Start Today: Get your Walk to Work Day poster, postcards, tip sheet and more, download a FREE Employer Toolkit.

2). Blog Your Commute: Complete a walker profile and share your story.

3). Win Prizes: Enter the “Longest Commute,” “Most Interesting Sight,” and “Best Shoe Bling” contests; use the #walk2work hashtag to win.

Just half an hour of walking a day reduces health risks, improves your mood — and lengthens your life, too. Plus, when you choose to walk for short trips (<1 mile), you help reduce San Francisco’s carbon emissions by 800,000 pounds a year. Start your healthy walking habit and get rewarded at one of the Walk to Work Day “hubs.” Stop by for a FREE Clipper Card, coffee, Clif Bar or breakfast snack, I Walk SF decal, and much more! (see map)

Follow Walk SF on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or sign up for the enewsletter updates. Walk and share your photos and experiences using the #Walk2Work hashtag to win fabulous, drawing prizes from HALO, Rickshaw Bagworks, Sports Basement, Whole Foods Market and more.

Remember, every single trip – by bike, by bus or rail, or by car – starts and ends with walking. Help build the voice for safer, better streets; it’s easy and fun, when you’re part of Walk to Work Day!
