On March 27, 2014 Captain Curtis Lum joined Mr. Bill Barnickel of the Outer Sunset Merchant and Professional Association (OSMPA) and Irving Street Beat Officer Jason Lai in handing out Certificates of Appreciation to merchants and professionals who graciously donated to the 2013 Toy Drive.
Mr. Barnickel played an instrumental role in organizing the Toy Drive. He was driven to ensure every child in the Taraval Police District, regardless of their situation, was given a chance to enjoy the spirit of the Holidays. Additionally Mr. Barnickel’s outreach was a lesson to all of us that generosity and selflessness are the qualities that make-up a community.
Mr. Barnickel, Captain Lum, and Officer Lai visited each merchant and professional on Irving Street who participated in the 2013 Toy Drive, and thanked them for their generosity. The recipients expressed gratitude for the recognition and the personal visit by the Captain.
