Traffic Violation – Possession of a Firearm – Cited

Officers were on patrol in the area when they observed a driver talking on his cell phone while driving. The officers conducted a traffic stop and observed that a dealer’s record of sales for a firearm was inside the vehicle. The officers questioned the driver about being in possession of a firearm and were advised that the driver had a firearm next to him, at his waist. The officers investigated and determined that the firearm was unloaded and informed the driver that firearms could only be legally transported in a locked box stored in a vehicle’s trunk. The driver was cited.
