Theft

An officer responded to a theft. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer met a man who stated that earlier he was unloading his personal belongings onto the sidewalk from his vehicle. He left his personal belongings unattended as he walked back to his residence briefly. When he returned to his vehicle, he discovered that a suspect stole all his personal belongings.

A woman came into Taraval Station to report a theft from a building. She stated to the officer that earlier she left her personal belongings in an unlocked room. Later in the day, she realized that one of her personal belongings was missing. After the woman viewed security footage, she was able to determine that a suspect walked into her office and took her personal belonging.

Officers responded to a shoplifting incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a loss prevention employee who stated that he witnessed the suspect take a piece of store merchandise. The suspect wore the piece of store merchandise and exited the store without paying. The officers booked the suspect for theft.

An officer responded to an incident where a man was brandishing a knife. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer met a MUNI supervisor who pointed out the person who was brandishing a knife. The officer then detained the man and performed a cursory search for weapons. The officer found a knife on the man and seized the weapon. When the officer contacted dispatch, they advised him that the reporting party claimed there was no merit to a person brandishing a knife. The officer issued the man a certificate of release.

An officer responded to a suspicious occurrence. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer met a store employee who stated that a suspect stole a vehicle from the store premises. The officer conducted a wants/warrant check on the vehicle that revealed the vehicle was repossessed. The officer advised the store employee that there was no merit to the vehicle being stolen.

A woman came into Taraval Station to report a suspicious occurrence. She stated to the officer that a suspect sent her an email notifying her that he had been stalking her. The suspect also stated that he was able to locate the woman through social media sites. There was nothing threatening in the emails.

An officer observed a vehicle making an illegal u-turn. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver. A computer check revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. The officer cited the driver for driving with a suspended license and making an illegal u-turn.

Residential Burglary – Forcible Entry

Officers responded to a residential burglary with forcible entry. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a woman who stated that she locked and secured her residence before leaving. When she returned home, she discovered that a suspect damaged the back door. The damage appeared to be pry marks from an unknown tool. The woman also stated that the door was still locked when she returned home and nothing was stolen.
Suspect 1: Hispanic female, 5’3”, 25-30 years old, 120 lbs, brown hair, and brown eyes. LSW: White t-shirt, blue jeans.

An officer responded to a report of a stolen safe. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer found the safe with the front door of the safe pried off. There was no property inside the safe. The officer recovered the safe and processed it at Taraval Station.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a man who stated that he witnessed a suspect take numerous items out of a residence and place them in the back of a vehicle. The officers searched inside the house and noticed that it was in complete disarray.

A woman came into Taraval Station to file a fraud report. The woman stated to the officer that a collection agency notified her she was past due on an account. However, her existing account has a different account number than the one on the collections notice. The suspect opened a new account using the woman’s name and social security number. The woman did not give anyone permission to opened the account with her personal information.

Officers responded to a report of a fraud. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a bank teller who stated that the suspect approached her to cash a check in his checking account. When suspect provided a social security number to look up the account, the bank teller discovered there was a fraud alert on the account. The suspect attempted to withdraw from the account an amount of cash similar to the earlier fraud. The suspect also provided ID cards that did not match the signature he provided on the withdrawal form. During the transaction, the suspect became agitated, asked for his ID card back, and left the bank.
Suspect: White male, 5’10”, 55-65 years old, 250 lbs, gray hair. LSW: Red “Niner’s” hat, suspenders, grey shirt, unknown pants, wire rimmed glasses.

A woman came into Taraval Station to report fraud. She stated to the officer that the suspect gave her checks to cash for him. In the past, she was able to do so without any problems. However, after she cashed the checks for the suspect, her bank notified her that the checks were no good. The woman was unable to contact the suspect.

Officers responded to a report of a prowler/trespasser. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met the owner of the building who stated that previously he allowed the two suspects to live in the building. Recently, he told the suspects they could no longer live on the premises, and he changed the locks. However, the suspects broke the locks and continued to live in the building. The officers ran warrant checks on both of the suspects and discovered that there were warrants for the arrest of one of the suspects. The officers arrested the suspect and booked him on the warrant.

A man came into Taraval Station to file a theft report. He stated to the officer that before he went to play basketball, he placed his personal belongings on the ground. When he was done playing basketball, he was unable to find his personal belongings.

Officers responded to a suspicious occurrence. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a woman who stated that earlier a suspect rang her doorbell. When she let opened the door and let in the suspect, the suspect immediately walked into the garage area. The suspect then used an access door from the garage to enter a vacant unit. After the woman contacted the police and returned to the garage area, another resident notified her that he observed the suspect open the garage door and exit the building.

Officers responded to a residential burglary with unlawful entry. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a woman who stated that when she returned to her residence, she discovered that a suspect stole several of her personal belongings. She believes that the suspect’s point of entry and exit were through the garage gate.

A man came into Taraval Station to report a petty theft. He stated to the officer that when he left a building, he noticed that a personal belonging of his was missing. He believes that earlier the suspect purposely bumped into him and took his personal belonging.

Officers responded to a suspicious occurrence. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a woman who stated that when she was walking her dog, she observed a bowl of rice on the ground. She was suspicious of the bowl of rice because in the past her dog became sick from eating poisoned meat that was left on the ground. The officer collected the bowl of rice and transported it to Taraval Station. A CSI officer took custody of the bowl of rice to be processed.

An officer observed a vehicle driving through an intersection without stopping at a red light. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver. A record check revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. The driver was also not in possession of any form of insurance. The officer cited the driver for driving with a suspended license, failing to stop at a red light, and driving without proof of insurance.

Officers observed a vehicle with expired registration tab. The officers checked computer DMV records and confirmed the vehicle’s registration was expired. The officers then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver. When the officers asked the driver for proof of insurance, the driver was unable to do so. The officer cited the driver for driving with an expired license, with expired registration, and without proof of insurance.

Assault, Shoplifting, and Conspiracy

Two officers responded to dispatch to a supermarket regarding a physical fight. Police officers arrived on the scene to find that the victim was the security guard for the supermarket. The victim had tried to stop one of the three suspects from stealing, resulting in an argument. The other two suspects attacked the victim and then fled the scene in a red Mustang. The victim received medical attention and was given follow-up information. The officers talked to witnesses and collected descriptions of the suspects:
Suspect #1: Hispanic Male, 5’6, 18-25 years old, 150 lbs, Black hair with goatee. LSW: Gray/ black hooded sweater and blue jeans.
Suspect #2: White Male, 5’9, 18-25 years old, 180 lbs, Dirty Blonde hair. LSW: Blue short sleeve polo shirt and black faded jeans.
Suspect#3: Black Male, 6’1, 18-25 years old, 210 lbs, Black shoulder length dreadlocks, LSW: black jacket, Black T shirt and black jeans.

Verbal Threats

Two officers responded to a call regarding verbal threats in a parking structure. The officers met with the victim and got a description of what happened. She stated that a man came up to her car and threatened her. She believes that the suspect was her downstairs neighbor in her apartment due to recent noise complaints. The officers collected a description from the victim and gave her follow-up information.
Suspect #1: Asian Male, 5’8, 40-50 years old, 185 lbs, Black hair, Brown eyes. LSW T-Shirt (possibly white), Jacket, Jeans.

Burglary at Residence, Forcible entry

Two officers were dispatched to the report of a burglary. Officers arrived at the home to meet with the victim. The victim explained that the when he returned home he noticed his back door had been tampered with and noticed broken glass on the floor. The door and door frame had marks of someone trying to pry the door open. The officers took photographs of the evidence and gave the victim follow-up information.

Two officers were dispatched to a call of someone wondering in the middle of the street and received a description of the suspect. Officers found a person fitting the description on the way to the scene. The officers detained the subject and conducted a computer records check which revealed a felony warrant from out of the area.

The suspect was placed under arrest for the warrant.

Victim came into the Taraval Police station to file a theft report. The victim reported that he was moving into his new apartment with 3 other residents he does not know. He reported that he left his wallet on the dining table over night and when he went to get it in the morning it was missing. The victim asked the roommates if they took it, which they denied. Officers gave the victim a case number and follow-up information.

Two officers were responded to a dispatch of a possible burglary report. They arrived on the scene and met with the victim. The victim explained that two of his bicycles were missing from his garage. He stated that yesterday he was cleaning out his garage and noticed the suspect walking back and forth by his house. The victim was given follow-up information and a case number.
Suspect #1: Black Male, 6’2, 30-40 years old, 170 lbs, black hair, LSW Green hooded trench coat, tan khaki pants, and black boots.

Two officers responded to the call of an auto burglary, when arriving on the scene they were flagged down by a concerned citizen who stated that his car window had been broken. The victim stated that he does not know why someone would have broken his window; he also reported that nothing was stolen. The officers then took pictures of the incident and gave the victim follow-up information.

The two victims told the police officers that they awoke this morning to find their cars unlocked and doors ajar. They did not notice any items missing from the vehicles. The officers then reported a suspicious occurrence and the victims were given follow-up information.

Robbery with a Gun

Officers responded to a robbery with a gun. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a man who stated that the suspect robbed him at gunpoint. The driver was driving when he saw the suspect standing in the middle of the street. The driver got out of his vehicle and walked with the suspect. As they were walking, the suspect pulled out a handgun and ordered the driver to hand over his wallet. The suspect took money in the driver’s wallet and fled the scene.
Suspect: Hispanic male, 5’8”, 150 lbs, black hair, ponytail. LSW: Blue baseball cap, black/gray letterman jacket, light blue jeans.

A man came into Taraval Station to report a battery. He stated to the officer that a suspect approached him and accused him of stealing. The suspect then punched the man’s face several times. The suspect fled the scene after punching the man.

A woman came into Taraval Station to report an assault. She stated to the officer that she got into an argument with her roommate. When she attempted to turn on a light switch, her roommate slammed his hand onto her hand in an attempt to keep her from turning on the light switch. Her roommate then removed his hand.

An officer responded to a burglary with forcible entry. Upon arrival at the scene, the officer met the owner of the building who stated prior to the incident, he secured the building. The next morning, a suspect burglarized the building by taking money from the cash register and petty cash box. The officer determined the point of entry and exit for the suspect was through the front glass door.

A man came into Taraval Station to report a theft from his home and unauthorized/forged checks. He stated to the officer that he left his checkbook out during a get together. When he went to the bank to withdraw money, he discovered that he was overdrawn. A bank teller notified him that earlier his checks were written out. The man believes that the suspect took his checkbook from his house during the get together.

Officers responded to a shoplifting incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a loss prevention officer who stated that the suspect entered store and placed multiple store merchandises into his backpack. The suspect then walked pasted registers and left the store without paying for the store merchandises. The officers cited the man for shoplifting.

Officers responded to a shoplifting incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a sales associate who stated that the suspect entered the building and inquired about store merchandise. As the store associate held the store merchandise in her hands, the suspect snatched them from her hands. The suspect then ran out of the building.

Officers responded to a vandalism call. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a man who stated that a suspect broke a window of the building. He found a broken remote control inside the building that he believes the suspect used to break the window.

Two women came into Taraval Station to report a fraud. They stated to the officer that when one of them attempted to file a tax return, it was rejected because her name did not match her social security number. They believe that a suspect is using the woman’s name and social security number.

A man came into Taraval Station to file a fraud report. He stated to the officer that he responded to an advertisement for a rental. The suspect emailed him a rental agreement and advised him to wire money to his account. After the man wired the money, he felt something was wrong. He searched the rental address and located a phone number to the building. When he called the number, the receiver advised him that the property was not available for rent and he was a victim of a scam. He was the fifth caller inquiring on the property.

Two officers responded to a report of vandalism to an ATM machine. The officer arrived on the scene and met with manager of the bank. He stated that he noticed this morning that the ATM had a cracked screen and signs of forced entry. The manager inspected the machine and concluded that none of the money was taken and entry was not achieved. The officer took pictures of the evidence and provided the bank manager with a case number and follow-up information.

A citizen came to the Taraval Station to report a theft from her home. She reported that she employed a coworker to help her move from her home. She stated that during the move she noticed the misplacement of an envelope of money. She asked her coworker if he took it and he denied it. Later after unpacking she determined that the envelope was missing. The officer working took down her written statement and gave her a case number and follow-up information.

Two officers responded to a call for service, upon arrival they met with the victim. The victim stated she recently employed a new babysitter and had noticed the following evening that some items from her residence were missing. She stated that no one has permission to enter the house except for her, her daughter and the babysitter. The victim asked the babysitter if she took the items and the sitter denied it. The victim was given a case number and follow-up information.

A victim came to the Taraval Station to make a report regarding harassing phone calls. The victim explained that she received multiple phone calls from someone claiming to be an IRS agent and that she owes money. The victim’s phone rang during the report and the officer answered the phone stating that he was a police officer and questions the suspect if he was with the IRS. The suspect then hung up. The victim received information for how to prevent identity theft and follow-up information.

An officer responded to a possible car accident. Upon arriving at the scene, the victim informed the officer that the suspect’s insurance was outdated. The officer checked the suspects name and discovered that he did not have a registered driver’s license. The suspect was cited and his car was left parked on site.
