The History of Ocean View, Wed – Mar 18, 6:30 pm @ Ocean View Library

ocean_sign_smallHave you ever wondered how the Ocean View neighborhood got its name? Why Broad and Randolph Streets are so oddly connected? In fact, the Ocean View/Merced Heights neighborhoods have a unique and fascinating history. Come learn all about it – you will come away walking tall with pride for this oft-overlooked neighborhood!

Lise Braden, the Ocean View librarian, is presenting (Wed – Mar 18, 6:30 pm @ Ocean View Library) a Power Point program of historical photos and video interviews with members of the community. It is the result of months of research she conducted in 2012 for a special 90-minute presentation she gave to the San Francisco Public Library City Librarian and other key SFPL staff members. (The purpose of that project overall was to determine how the Ocean View Branch Library can best serve the community.)

This 45-minute program is specially tailored to be of interest to OMI residents, focusing on the history of the Ocean View up to and including recent efforts to improve the neighborhood.
