Case File Update

Hello again readers, we have an update for you on a previously posted case.

Synopsis: On 6/8/15, officers responded to a location to investigate a theft in an apartment.  The apartment was not rented or leased to a tenant, but rather was rented as lodgings through the AirBnB website. The apartment was well secured with numerous security cameras in and around the property. Approved AirBnB guests had open access to the whole apartment except for a locked office and a locked closet.  After a rental, the owner returned to her apartment and found that her office door was still closed and locked but the handle was clearly broken. After investigating, the owner discovered over $35,000 worth of items that were stolen from her apartment.

Results: Sgt Farrell of the Taraval Investigation Team took over the investigation. After reviewing the security footage and hours of exhaustive investigation, he was able to identify the suspect and obtain a search warrant. On 08/03/15, Sgt Farrell was informed that the suspect had been arrested by Rohnert Park Public Safety Department and was pending transfer to San Francisco. Task completed, the SFPD has now forwarded this case to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
