Officers responded to a report of an adult male being detained for shoplifting. The officers met with assets protection employee of the department. The department employee explained that the suspect entered the department carrying what appeared to be an empty black backpack. The department employee continued to observe the suspect as he brought merchandise into the fitting room and exited without the merchandise. The department employee stated that he continued to observe the suspect until he exited the store. The suspect was confronted outside of the store and brought back inside for detainment until the officers arrived. The suspect was later cited.

A report was made to officers on duty at Taraval Police Station. The victim stated that he was approached by the two suspects at a bank parking lot asking if he could help cash a check. The victim and suspects proceeded to the teller window to cash the check. The victim gave the suspects the cash and the suspects gave the victim $60 for helping them. The victim contacted the owner of the check. The owner of the check stated it was his check but not his handwriting or signature. The owner of the check stated he looked at his checkbook and noticed six checks were missing.
