Vandalism – Domestic Violence

Officers responded to a vandalism report. The victim reported that she was woken up by someone yelling her name and ringing her door bell before hearing something hit the window, which caused the window to shatter. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim told the officers that the suspect had been showing up the past few days at the same time and  believes that she recognized the suspect’s voice as belonging to her ex-boyfriend.  

Shoplifting – Cited

1400 Ocean Ave
Officers responded to a business regarding a report of a theft. The victim reported that he went upstairs and left the business unlocked and unattended. When the victim returned back downstairs to the store, his dog was missing. The victim provided the store’s security video, which showed the suspect, to the officers for viewing. As the officers were returning to the station, they located the suspect matching the description from the security video. The suspect was detained and later cited for theft.

Traffic Violation – No Driver’s License – Cited

Garfield St & Bright St
Officers observed a vehicle failing to make a complete stop at a posted stop sign. Officers conducted a traffic stop and a computer check on the driver revealed that his license had expired. The driver was cited.

Assault
11:25 am
Great Highway & Taraval St
Officers responded to a report of a battery. The victim told the officers that he was riding his motorcycle when he noticed another vehicle rapidly catching up to him from behind. The vehicle then cut in front of the victim and suddenly braked without warning. The vehicle continued to slow down while in front of the victim before finally stopping. The driver then exited the vehicle and punched the victim, without any explanation. After about 30 seconds of fighting, the driver entered his vehicle and drove off.

2000 9th Ave
An officer observed a group of skateboarders unloading items and preparing to film themselves skating on the sidewalk and streets. The officer advised them that it is illegal to skate on the streets and sidewalk and that there are numerous skate parks in the area. The officer left the area but received a report of skateboarders on the street later in the day. After arriving on scene, the officer recognized the group as the same ones that she had advised earlier. The skateboarders were later cited.

Brandishing Knife

1100 Capitol Ave
Officers responded to a report of a possible stabbing incident.  The suspect flagged down officers and reported that she was being followed by her landlord and removed a small knife from her purse in order to protect herself while telling the victim to stay away from her. The victim responded that the suspect was a former girlfriend that he was in the process of evicting. While the victim was walking in the same direction as the suspect but not towards her, the suspect brandished a knife and threatened him. The suspect provided a video of the incident that she recorded on her phone. After further investigation, the officers deemed that a crime was not committed.

19th Ave & Ocean Ave
Officers were conducting LIDAR speed enforcement and observed a vehicle traveling 65 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officers conducted a traffic stop and a computer check on the driver revealed that his license was currently suspended and it had been suspended in the past as well. The driver was cited.

Battery

1800 Irving St
Officers responded to a battery incident. The victim reported that a homeless person, with a known history, had punched him on his face. The victim said that the suspect was drunk and punched him twice in the same day, during two separate times. The victim told the officer that he had hung out with the suspect for many years.

Robbery
10:58 pm
100 Font Blvd
Officers responded to a possible fight.  Upon arrival, officers observed approximately 50 teens run out of the building and flee the location. Officers located the victim sitting in front of the building who reported that he responded to someone who had made a comment about him. This escalated and caused the suspect to punch the victim while a second suspect joined in and took the victim’s items. The victim then became uncooperative and stated that he “would handle his own business” before officers notified his parents of the incident.
